this is why i do it....

I love when I get email from clients sharing their experiences.

This one was pretty amazing....

Dear Kristie,
Just wanted to say a big thank you for the treatment recently. All the facial and massage treatments were as blissfully lovely as I'd hoped but the biggest surprise was the maxillo-facial massage, which you suggested to help relieve some awful pain I'd been getting from jaw clenching and teeth grinding (gotta love that stress!).

I was a bit uncertain about it at first as it sounded so weird but it felt really good and I immediately got some relief. After the massage though the pain became really intense - but localised in one tooth. I went to the dentist and was immediately booked in for emergency root canal treatment. We're pretty sure that massage unlocked everything else, all the muscles that had seized up solid and were cramping, helping me to identify where the real problem was. So we caught it just as an abscess was getting ready to go!

Since then things have been so much better in my jaw, and I will definitely be back for repeat treatments to make sure they stay that way. I would really like to recommend your services generally, but in particular to let people know about the fabulous nature of the maxillo-facial massage. It does sound strange and it maybe feels a little weird at first - but my goodness me it works and the benefits are
very real.

All the best in continuing your unique and beautifully personalised service: I think it's great!!
Regards
Anne

Thanks Anne, this was so lovely to read and really gratifying.

I love my work! It rocks.

OMG - Best review EVER!

Sometime I put my self out there.

Sometimes it works (sometimes not so much) but this was a great initiative. I contacted Sheri said come have a massage and write me a review.

So she did.

And this is it!

So very touching...
thanks Sheri

Trying to get back...

I'm doing my best to get back on some sort of track.
I get sad when I miss something that was really important to someone else and it just slipped through my net.
I'm sorry I forgot you. It wasn't my intention. I hope you understand that.

Mojo found...

I thought I'd lost it, turns out it was just hiding. I was too distracted to be able to tap in.
I was working and other job - one that i thought offered me more than what massage did. Turns out like so many things when you try to do more than one thing you dont do any thing well.
So after being told that "my contract wasnt being renewed" i was super bummed, but then i did a massage and it was the best one that id done in a while. The singing was back. I could hear the  muscles working and moving and shifting.
I was so happy it was like seeing an old friend who you didnt realise you missed so very  much.
The bestest part the client was stoked too. Win win!
Now...to decide what to do next. Where to go from here with renewed faith that Im doing what Im supposed to be doing.

Lost my Massage Mojo...

I've lost my massage mojo and I don't know how to get it back.

I've been trying to think about what this life and business means to me. It used to mean allot and I used to get so much out of it. Sometimes now it just seems empty. Like there's no magic left.

Its really tough for me to think this. Massage is my life, its what I do for the longest time it was who I am. So if im not connecting the way that i used to with clients, if I can't read them any more what do i do? Who am I? I was trying to explain how it felt to a client. That i could hear what was going on in their body, that it was so quiet and subtle that I had to close my eyes and listen close.
Then while i massaged her I did that, i closed my eyes and i couldn't hear anything. Just silence, no response no magic, no body singing under my finger tips. What happened to that ability? It used to be so automatic that sometimes it was like a concert in my hands. Automatic that I couldn't switch it off and I would hear peoples bodies in pain crying out for attention.
But now, there's nothing.
Its really lonely and I don't know how to get it back.

DIY facial care - Beauty on the cheep!!

Keeping your face and body looking amazing is tough work. Not all of us can afford a personal trainer, chef, house cleaner and nanny.

A skin care routine is really important and I like the classic
  • Cleanse,
  • Tone,
  • Moisturize on a daily basis
then add the weekly
  • exfoliate
  • masque
and you're on a total winner. However these 5 simple steps can end up costing lots of cash. So here are my tips on saving money and looking beautiful.

Cleanse - Clean is important - Would you eat off a dirty plate? No, well neither will your skin, it cant be fead properly if it isn't clean. Good cleansers are hard to fake so this is where i generally reccomend using something that is manufactured.
Oily skin - foaming cleanser
Dry skin - cream cleanser
I like to use a foaming cleanser made by a little shop in Stones Corner (Brisbane) Its $15.50 for for 50mls but that will last you AGES! Check it out here

Tone - Most people think this is a useless step. Well they are wrong. Toning the skin is important. Why? well because I say so - no not really - It's important because you need to re-balance your skins pH after you strip all the oil and dirt off when you cleanse.
You can use things like - Rose Water, Lavender water, Orange Blossom Water, Witch Hazel. Generally a quick spritz and that's all you need.
I love Mukti Toners - they smell pretty and work as a pick me up all day long. (Carry in your hand bag on long flights or when you have to spend all day in Air Con)

Moisturize - Oils ain't oils - There is this rumor going round that oil in and on your skin is bad and that you have to proactive *cough* to get rid of it. Well that's just wrong. Your skin needs oil. You strip it and it just makes more (and more and more and more) because oil is the way that your skin protects itself.
I like to recommend that people use oils that are close to the natural oil produced by your skin.
  • Rose hip - buy the tablets from the Chemist - they come in their own single dose disposable packaging.
  • Jojoba
  • Macadamia.
Oh these oils can also double as eye make up removers. Use them prior to cleansing your face after you go out or wear makeup. They also nourish your eye area!!

These 3 steps should be followed DAILY, twice daily if you wear make up or go to a city.

Tomorrow I'm going to post my tips for the weekly components of the routine.
Stay Peachy
xoxo
