DIY facial care - Beauty on the cheep!!

Keeping your face and body looking amazing is tough work. Not all of us can afford a personal trainer, chef, house cleaner and nanny.

A skin care routine is really important and I like the classic
  • Cleanse,
  • Tone,
  • Moisturize on a daily basis
then add the weekly
  • exfoliate
  • masque
and you're on a total winner. However these 5 simple steps can end up costing lots of cash. So here are my tips on saving money and looking beautiful.

Cleanse - Clean is important - Would you eat off a dirty plate? No, well neither will your skin, it cant be fead properly if it isn't clean. Good cleansers are hard to fake so this is where i generally reccomend using something that is manufactured.
Oily skin - foaming cleanser
Dry skin - cream cleanser
I like to use a foaming cleanser made by a little shop in Stones Corner (Brisbane) Its $15.50 for for 50mls but that will last you AGES! Check it out here

Tone - Most people think this is a useless step. Well they are wrong. Toning the skin is important. Why? well because I say so - no not really - It's important because you need to re-balance your skins pH after you strip all the oil and dirt off when you cleanse.
You can use things like - Rose Water, Lavender water, Orange Blossom Water, Witch Hazel. Generally a quick spritz and that's all you need.
I love Mukti Toners - they smell pretty and work as a pick me up all day long. (Carry in your hand bag on long flights or when you have to spend all day in Air Con)

Moisturize - Oils ain't oils - There is this rumor going round that oil in and on your skin is bad and that you have to proactive *cough* to get rid of it. Well that's just wrong. Your skin needs oil. You strip it and it just makes more (and more and more and more) because oil is the way that your skin protects itself.
I like to recommend that people use oils that are close to the natural oil produced by your skin.
  • Rose hip - buy the tablets from the Chemist - they come in their own single dose disposable packaging.
  • Jojoba
  • Macadamia.
Oh these oils can also double as eye make up removers. Use them prior to cleansing your face after you go out or wear makeup. They also nourish your eye area!!

These 3 steps should be followed DAILY, twice daily if you wear make up or go to a city.

Tomorrow I'm going to post my tips for the weekly components of the routine.
Stay Peachy

what do you mean you're not a mind reader!

Sometimes I think that people expect me to be a mind reader. Like I should know everything about them, like their life story is imprinted into my brain somehow. I can sometimes impress them by asking them a series of seemingly random questions that lead to an amazing insight into how they use their body.
They think its pretty impressive that I can read their body and its foibles.

I'll let you in on a secret...Bodies talk - not just dead ones but real live ones too.

What is your body telling you? Thirsty? Hungry? Lonely? Aching? Hurt?

Why aren't you listening?

This is how I do it

I've been doing massage and beauty for awhile now and not to be to modest I'm pretty good at what I do. So over the next few weeks Im going to be adding some tutorials to my blog.
Why?
Well mostly for my future reference. If I ever decide to go BIG again with the Peach - I want to do thing differently and so training will be a massive part of that. Feedback I've had from clients is that there was allot of inconstancy between the service I would give and the service that others would give.
So, to help provide consistency I'm going to do up step by step training.
Over the next few days I'll be posting one of Peachy's most popular beauty treatments - The Eyes Have It - Lash and Brow makeover.
Keep your eyes peeled!!

Sometimes you get a little lost

Its been a long journey, to get to here.

So much has changed I things have happened that I never thought possible.

It's been over a year since my mum and business partner Pene was diagnosed with bone cancer. That was the worst day. You just don't know how to take that sort of information in.
Cancer.
It was like dropping a stone in to a pond. The ripple effect is still going. It changed everything. I had to close my business. The beast that I had worked for for over 5 years. The beast that Pene was helping me to tame. She was meant to be here to teach her granddaughter all the things that I don't know. She was meant to be there for me to lean on while I muddled my way through being a parent. I feel like i got ripped off. Like i wasted so much time.
But you cant go back. You have to move forward. So now 8 months since my mum died I still sit at home wondering what is it I do? How am I useful? Why do i bother?
Then i look at the people that i help each day in some small way and think.
OH yeah that's why.

It not JUST the things that you do.

Its the things that you give.

I was doing a waxing service the other day and as I was talking to the client we started chatting about our kids (they are a great conversation starter) I spoke about how much I massage Aden when she was little and how I still massage her now to help calm her down and get off to sleep.
The client sighed, she expressed how she longed to massage her son when he was a baby and that she felt she'd missed an opportunity to connect with him now that he was older.
I spoke to her about how to integrate massage into his daily routine, how it was something that his dad could do for him just before bed as a nice way to wind down and have some positive touch from his dad. I even showed her how she cold get around his ticklish side!
It really made me think that sometimes it not JUST what you do its what you give. I strive to give more to my clients and I think I really achieve it most times.
Its a good feeling.
